Training & Education Committee

Training & Education Committee Charge:  This committee is responsible for assessing the continuing educational and information management and technology training needs of fisheries and wildlife professionals and works in close coordination with the Executive Committee to develop a comprehensive continuing education program.

2010 Short-Term Goals and Objectives:

  1. Seek input from the OFWIM Membership regarding training/education needs that OFWIM could provide to the membership.
  2. Further past efforts to use the 'OFWIM Community Portal' capabilities to offer 'Distance Learning' opportunities to a widely 'distributed' OFWIM Membership; in collaboration with the Communications Committee and the Data Standards & Technology Trends Committee. If possible, develop, test, and deliver at least two such web-based 'education/training' sessions in 2010.
  3. Professionally complete the duties of the committee, by convening conference calls, exchanging emails, and providing input to the OFWIM Executive Committee. Prepare interim and Annual Reports. Post agendas, minutes and related materials to the Training and Education Committee 'Project' of the OFWIM Community Portal, as they are developed, throughout 2010.

2010 Long-Term Goals and Objectives:

  1. Seek input from the OFWIM Membership regarding training/educational opportunities available through other sources; help the Communications Committee develop an online 'catalog' of links to such resources.
  2. Based on OFWIM Membership feedback, determine what training needs might be met through workshop(s) at the OFWIM Annual Meeting, outline what resources might be required and available, and provide such information to the OFWIM Executive Committee, for their consideration. Work with the Conference Planning Committee to offer such workshops.
  3. Explore options for making materials from the web-based education/training sessions available on the OFWIM Community Portal after the sessions are held, where appropriate, in order to allow OFWIM members to have continuing access to the training content.
