Committees

Committees are comprised of OFWIM members, including a Vice-Chair, and a Chair. The Chair is appointed by the President. The Vice-Chair is the designated Executive Committee member, as outlined in the bylaws, or is appointed by the President. Specific committee charges and annual goals and member lists may be found by clicking on the individual committee names.

Permanent Committees


Communications Committee

This committee is responsible for publishing a newsletter; helping organize the annual meeting of the Organization (including publicity); and maintaining the Web site and mailing list for the Organization.

Membership and Outreach Committee

This committee is responsible for maintaining and increasing Organization membership by actively identifying and contacting potential members.

In 2013, Communications, Membership & Outreach are meeting together to accomplish shared goals. They are exploring the possibility of merging into one permanent committee in a future revision of the Bylaws.

Training and Education Committee

This committee is responsible for assessing the continuing educational and information management and technology training needs of fisheries and wildlife professionals and works in close coordination with the Executive Committee to develop a comprehensive continuing education program.

Data Standards and Technology Trends Committee

Currently seeking new leadership

This committee is responsible for developing and maintaining a data standards reference resource for fish and wildlife information managers and information system developers. The committee will also review trends in information technology as it relates to scientific data management and report its findings to the Organization.


Elections, Nominations, and Awards Committee

This committee is responsible for developing and implementing the Organization's various award and recognition programs and for developing a slate of candidates for the Organization's annual elections.

Conference Planning Committee

This committee is responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of the Organization's annual meeting.
